I’ve heard that beginning in the fall 2019, there will be a new pre-req for Physics 100A/L. Is this true?
That is correct. Beginning in the fall of 2019, Math 106 will be the new pre-req for Physics 100A/L. It will take the place of the current pre-req, which is Mat 103, Math 104, or Math 105.
The pre-req for Physics 100A/L formally will change to Math 105 or Math 106 this summer (rather than 103, 104, or 105). Math 106 is the most efficient route, as it does not have a pre-req. Math 105 (pre-calculus) requires Math 102 (algebra) as a pre-req. If students want to take their math at a community college, they will likely need the equivalent of Math 105 because Math 106 (mathematical foundations for non-calculus physics) will probably not be offered at any community college.
